Donated by Olaf Bohlen. Thanks a lot!
This is a 'POWER µP' CPU replacement chip for a Sun SPARCstation IPX. It replaces the 40 MHz original IPX processor with a clock doubled 80 MHz version.

Taking a page from Intel's OverDrive strategy, Weitek released a clock-doubled upgrade processor for SPARCstation 2 systems in late 1993. The 80 MHz SPARC POWER µP chip provides about a 50% increase in performance over systems that use Weitek's W8701 CPU (see above) or Fujitsu's pin-compatible MB86903. Weitek estimated that the installed base of such systems - including Sun's SPARCstation 2 (SS2) and IPX workstations and third-party clones - was over 250,000 units. These users were enabled to purchase upgrade kits for $1500 in single-piece quantities.
